What "compounded" means
A compounded medication is prepared by a state-licensed pharmacy for an individual patient based on a prescription from a licensed practitioner. Compounded medications are not FDA-approved as finished products. The FDA regulates the active pharmaceutical ingredients used in compounding, and state boards of pharmacy regulate the pharmacies that prepare them. Compounded medications are appropriate when a commercially available product does not meet a patient's clinical needs (for example, an alternate dose, an alternate route, or removal of a non-essential ingredient).
How a pharmacy is assigned to your prescription
After a licensed Bionomy practitioner reviews your intake and writes your prescription, the order is routed to the partner pharmacy licensed to dispense that medication in your state. You can request the name of the dispensing pharmacy at any time by messaging your practitioner. Pharmacy assignment is based on licensure, formulary, and shipping logistics, not on price.
Safety and verification
All Bionomy partner pharmacies maintain LegitScript Healthcare Merchant Certification, which requires ongoing compliance with state and federal pharmacy law, USP <795> / <797> / <800> standards where applicable, transparent ownership, and a verified physical address. You can verify any LegitScript-certified merchant at legitscript.com.
Adverse event reporting
If you experience a side effect or an adverse event from a Bionomy prescription, message your practitioner immediately through the dashboard, or email safety@bionomyhealth.com. Serious adverse events can also be reported to the FDA MedWatch program at fda.gov/safety/medwatch.
